Raymond H. Modesitt has tried to conclusion a large number of cases in over 30 different jurisdictions throughout the United States in his capacity as lead trial counsel to several companies involved in asbestos litigation. Although his practice also incorporates both local and national clientele, Ray’s primary focus since 1979 has been in mass tort litigation. His work has been recognized by election as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1989. Ray joined the law firm in 1968 following graduation from the Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington). He had earned the B.A. degree at IU in 1965. His early litigation work was in insurance defense (personal injury and medical malpractice) and railroad litigation before joining an elite group of trial lawyers serving as national trial counsel for different corporations involved in asbestos-related litigation. He has been active in Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana and served many years on its Board of Directors. He has been recognized as a Diplomat of that organization. Ray and his wife, Carol, have two adult daughters, both of whom are Indiana attorneys. In his free time, Ray enjoys spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren. Ray is currently of counsel for the firm and works out of both the Terre Haute and Zionsville offices.
